As many of us know, 2021 was quite a difficult year for many people due to the ongoing pandemic. A great number of us had the misfortune of dealing with Covid personally. And yes, even though in most cases the consequences weren’t too serious, some people got it pretty hard. And in some cases, unfortunately, people sadly lost their lives as a result.

The deaths of superstars Alex Trebek and Chadwick Boseman, and the tragic loss of numerous talents to Coronavirus became quite a shock for the whole world in 2020 and 2021.

And in this article specifically, we are remembering all the famous people who sadly passed away in 2021: due to coronavirus or any other reasons.

Betty White

January 17 1922 – December 31 2021

According to her representative, Betty White, the renowned actress, deceased on New Year’s Eve in 2021.

“Although Betty was approaching 100 years old, I believed she will be living indefinitely,” her close friend and agent Jeff Witjas stated in a message to the public.

“Her passion for animals will be sorely missed by me, as will the whole animal kingdom she adored.” Betty never seemed afraid of dying since she always desired to be with Allen Ludden, her lovely husband. She was confident that she would be certainly with him once again.”

White died away at the age of 99, just a few weeks ahead of her hundredth birthday, leaving behind a loving family.

Virgil Abloh 

September 30 1980 – November 28 2021

Virgil Abloh died on November 28 following a two-year struggle with cancer. He was a fashion designer who introduced Louis Vuitton’s Off-White line in 2011.

According to the LVMH fashion brand, the 41-year-old suffered cardiac angiosarcoma, a severe and rare illness he was identified with privately in 2019.

Peter Scolari 

September 12 1955 – October 22, 2021

After a two-year fight with cancer, Peter Scolari, a well-known actor, passed away on October 22. The “Newhart” and “Bosom Buddies” actor died at 66.

The actor left behind Tracy Shayne, his wife and four kids, Nicholas, Keaton, Joseph, and Cali.

Prince Philip, Duke Of Edinburgh

June 10, 1921 – April 9, 2021

Prince Philip of the United Kingdom passed away on April 9. He was 99 years old at the time of his death. According to Buckingham Palace, Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, “died away calmly” in his Windsor Castle.

Philip was the longest royal consort of British history, having been happily married to Elizabeth for approximately 73 years and fathering Prince Charles, the royal heir. He announced his retirement from public life in 2017.

Willie Garson

Willie Garson, famous for his depiction as Stanford Blatch in the television series “Sex and the City,” deceased on September 21 at 57. Garson had recently returned to New York City to resume his beloved part in the series “And Just Like That.” and “SATC” revival. He died shortly after.

Despite his professional achievement, Garson’s most desirable role in life was that of a father to his kids. During an interview with Page Six published last year, the actor extolled the virtues of his “unique” son, Nathan, who he adopted in 2009.

According to Garson, “He is an adult, and he would be taking care of me very soon; that is why I acquired him, to be honest,” he explained. “He is a beautiful gentleman and a very exceptional individual. He is fantastic, and he is currently enrolled in a college based in Ohio.”

In April, Helen McCrory, who acted in a series of Harry Potter & James Bond films, died from cancer. She was 52 years old at the time of her death.

Early this week, Damian Lewis, McCrory’s husband, said that the star had died after a long battle with cancer on April 16.

Larry King 

November 19, 1933- January 23, 2021

Larry King, the legendary broadcaster, passed away on January 23 at 87. As reported by The Washington Post, King, a cancer survivor, had caught Coronavirus in the spring of 2021. Julia Alexander, the sixth wife of the King, confirmed that Coronavirus was the cause of his death. However, later his wife claimed that King died due to “an infection, specifically sepsis.”

The former CNN star, who had worked for Ora Media for many years, was well known for his lengthy sitdowns with the world’s most famous figures and newsmakers for more than three decades. In addition, he conducted interviews with every president of the United States, starting from Richard Nixon to Donald Trump.

Christopher Plummer 

December 13, 1929 – February 5, 2021

Christopher Plummer, the legendary actor, died on February 5 at 91. Chris’s longstanding manager added, “Chris had been an exceptional man who genuinely loved and appreciated his job with wonderful old-fashioned manners, self-effacing humour, and music.”

Richard Taylor’s wife of more than 50 years, Elaine Taylor, will survive him. He was an Oscar-winning actor who appeared in films such as “Beginners,” “The Sound of Music,” “Knives Out”, and “All the Money in the World,”

Robert Downey Sr.

June 24, 1936 – July 7, 2021

He was 85 when he died while sleeping on July 7 — about a month after enjoying his 85th birthday. Robert Downey Sr. was a director, actor, and the father of Robert Downey Jr. His Parkinson’s disease had been a battle for him for about five years. He is best known for his cameo performances.

In his tribute to his father, Downey Jr., 56, referred to him as a “genuine maverick” who stayed “remarkably hopeful.”

Controversial Hustler creator Larry Flynt, who established himself as a staunch supporter of the First Amendment, died from complications from heart failure on February 10. He was 78 at that time. Following a failed murder attempt in 1978 that paralyzed him from the waist downward, he’d suffered from various health issues.

Jason Hitch

1976 – December 14, 2021 

According to his sister, after complications with COVID-19, Jason Hitch, a reality television celebrity who appeared on TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé,” died. Hitch was a star of the TLC series’ second season, “90 Day Fiancé.”

Hitch, who had not been immunized against Coronavirus, died in the intensive care unit of an unidentified Florida hospital when he was 45 years old. Hitch’s family was allegedly present at his bedside during his dying moments, clutching his hands in their own.

Young Dolph

July 27 1985 – November 17 2021

According to reports, Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., popular for his stage name Young Dolph, was shot and died in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, on November 17.

Based on a report by local television station FOX13, three separate law enforcement sources verified his death.

He walked inside Makeda’s Butter Cookies to get some cookies; an unidentified driver pulled up and immediately shot him, according to Maurice Hill, the store’s owner, who told the station based on the narration of his worker.

Mark Howard

In October, Captain Mark Howard, who starred in Bravo’s first season “Below Deck Mediterranean,” passed away at 65. Unfortunately, there has been no official announcement on the real reason for his death.

Norm Macdonald, a comedian and a cast member of “Saturday Night Live”, passed away after a quiet nine-year struggle with cancer. His age was 61 years at the time of death.

When Lori Jo Hoekstra, his friend who worked with him for many years as a producer, heard that he had died, she said: “He was very proud of his comedy.” “He did not want the cancer diagnosis to change the audience’s focus or his love. This is why.” Norm was an absolute comic. Then he said that a joke should always surprise people and not be mean. No, he did not do that at all!

She said, “Norm would be missed so much.”

Michael K. Williams 

1966-2021

According to the sources, law enforcement sources conveyed to The New York Post that “The Wire” star Michael K. Williams died of a possible heroin overdose Monday, September 6. He was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment.

People who saw Williams say that he was drunk in the dining area of his fancy Williamsburg apartment, with what looked like heroin over his kitchen table.

Police pronounced him dead at about 2:12 pm, sources said. It looked like he died from an overdose.

One of the most famous music producers, Phil Spector, died on January 17 while still on a life sentence for murdering Lana Clarkson, an actress. He was 83 at that time. Sarah Harding

After struggling for a year with breast cancer, Sarah Harding, the leading vocalist of the band Girls Aloud, died on September 5, 2021. Her age was 39 years old at the time of her death.

Marie Harding, Harding’s mother, shared the heartbreaking news on the singer’s Instagram account the similar day.

“Many of her fans will be aware of Sarah’s fight with breast cancer. She undoubtedly battled courageously from the time of her diagnosis till her death. “She went away calmly this morning,” says her mother.

Gregg Leakes

August 18, 1955 – September 1, 2021

Gregg Leakes, the husband of NeNe Leakes, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” actor, died due to cancer on September 1, 2021. At the time of his death, he was 66.

“Gregg went away at his home while his kids, close family, and wife were all around,” according to a representative for the pair.

Gregg was identified with colon cancer stage III in 2018. However, after undergoing chemotherapy for six months, his doctors declared him cancer-free. Although it was not immediately clear whether her husband’s illness had returned, NeNe confirmed it in June 2021.

Charlie Watts

On August 24, 2021, a hospital in London announced that Charlie Watts, Rollingstone drummer, had died. He was in his eightieth year.

In early August, the guitarist announced that he would be withdrawing from the band’s rescheduled tour to the US due to an unidentified but “totally successful” medical treatment.

In a declaration made after Charlie’s death, his publicist noted that the musician was “undoubtedly among the best drummers of his era” and “a loving spouse, father, and grandpa.”

The legendary Borscht Belt comic Jackie Mason deceased on July 24 at Mount Sinai Hospital based in Manhattan, where he was accompanied by his beloved wife, Jyll, along with a small group of friends. A 93-year-old man passed away.

A struggle with diabetic issues led to the death on July 16 of Biz Markie, a legendary wrapper from New York who was best known for his single “Just a Friend.” Biz, born Marcel Hall, died in hospital-based Baltimore with his wife by his side. He had reached the age of 57 at the time of his death.

According to his family, Jeff LaBar, the veteran guitarist, passed away on July 11 at his home in Nashville. The cause of his death was not disclosed. His age was 58 years at the time of his death.

Charlie Robinson

Charlie Robinson was an American actor best known for his role in The Great Gatsby. Robinson was also the star of The Great Gatsby television show, which premiered on ABC in 1996.

He died on July 11 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after suffering organ failure and a cardiac arrest resulting from metastatic adenocarcinoma and septic shock (a kind of cancer). In “Night Court,” Robinson played several characters throughout his acting career, about 50 years. He had reached the age of seventy-five.

Tanya Roberts 

October 15, 1955 – January 4, 2021 

Tanya Roberts, a well-known model and actress, best remembered for her appearances in “That ’70s Show”, “A View to Kill,” passed away on January 4, one day after the mistaken public announcement of her death. After falling at her home following a trek, the 65-year-old passed away peacefully at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. She had been admitted on Christmas Eve and had been treated since.

A struggle with cancer took the life of Chick Venera, an actor who died at the age of 74 at his home in Burbank, California. The versatile actor was famous for his regular part as Enrique/Pepe in “The Golden Girls” and his disco dance in the 1970s.

Dilip Kumar 

December 11, 1922 – July 7, 2021

Dilip Kumar, a Bollywood star known as the “King of Tragedy” in Hindi cinema, passed away on July 7 after a long battle with illness. His career spanned approximately six decades. He worked in about 60 films, including “Andaz” and “Shaheed”. In June, he was admitted to the hospital 2 times due to shortness of breath before passing away. His age was 98 at his death time.

Matima “Swavy” Miller 

Matima Miller, famous as Swavy and Babyface.S on TikTok, died on July 6 after being tragically shot in the Southbridge section of Wilmington. Miller was a popular figure on the platform. He had about 2.3 million Instagram followers in just 19 years.

Suzzanne Douglas

Suzzanne Douglas, a longtime actress famous for her work on and off-Broadway, passed away on July 6 while being at home on Martha’s Vineyard, following complexities from cancer. Douglas, who appeared in “The Parent ‘Hood,” the WB sitcom told in January about being diagnosed with “two life-threatening cancers,” which later changed her perception of life. She dies at the age of 64.

William Smith

In April, Jim Steinman, the Grammy winner of a few rock music’s most breathtaking songs, passed away. He was 73 years of age. He was the loving father of sons and daughters.

Steinman passed in Connecticut on Monday, April 19. He was 42 at the time. Celine Dion & Meat Loaf have previously collaborated on hit singles with Steinman.

After a lengthy battle with illness, Joseph Siravo, the artist featured in “Jersey Boys” & “The Sopranos,” passed away on Wednesday. Siravo was 64 years old at the time.

Siravo’s child Allegra Okarmus wrote on Instagram regarding her father, “I stood close to him when my lovely dad died peacefully today morning, in his favourite Treehouse.” “Both of us are quite lucky to be so much adored by him. Although she had caught COVID-19, her firm claims that “it was not only the Coronavirus that killed her; she was struggling with many underlying issues.”

DMX, a 50-year-old rapper, passed on April 9, as per his family. According to the renowned artist, who was actually from Earl Simmons, he had been in an absolute “vegetative condition” after experiencing a heroin overdose earlier last month.

Earl’s family claimed that he was a “warrior who struggled until the end.” Earl’s music won the heart of many lovers globally, along with his legendary impact will go on forever.”

Paul Ritter, a 54-year-old British actor, died from a brain tumour. He was 54 old at that time. According to his spokesman, Mr Ritter died “calmly in his home while being surrounded by his wife Polly and children Frank and Noah.”

During his career, he performed Eldred Worple’s role in “Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince” & Guy Haines in the James Bond film “Quantum of Solace.” Ritter had a strong theatrical career before his on-screen appearances. He got an Olivier Award nomination in 2006 for playing a beautiful role in “Coram Boy.” He was shortlisted for Tony Award for his work in “The Norman Conquests” in 2009.

Richard Gilliland

Richard Gilliland, the actor and Jean Smart’s husband, died on March 18. He was 71 years old at the time of his death. Reported he died due to illness caused by an undiagnosed medical ailment.
